Medical History
Date:
Description:
238302.22
Buck spent much of his life suffering from Mendroziga's Syndrome, a medical condition that paralyses random sections of the paracortex. During a botched mission to Darius Colony, he was exposed to a chemical that caused an extreme reaction within that section of his mind. His paracortex began to function as a normal Betazoid's, but his vocal chords wasted away. A complex operation performed by a medical team led by his sister allowed the replacement of his vocal chords using a set of microsensors to detect the movement of his mouth and force of his breath to simulate his voice. The system has been reviewed by Starfleet Medical, and has since been used in several similar cases. Buck's own vocal chords were, eventually, restored using an experimental procedure pioneered by BetaRAc medical researchers. Details are currently confidential as the project is reviewed by SF Medical.
